KUALA TERENGGANU: The Ajil state constituency has raised RM200,000 for the Terengganu Rohingya Humanitarian Fund.
Ajil assemblyman Ghazali Taib said the fund started three months ago to enable the people of Terengganu to help the Rohingya build a new life and escape years of oppression.
“The state government has given the mandate to the Terengganu Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT) to manage the collection at all mosques in the districts.
“Currently, the district religious officers are intensifying efforts to meet the target collection of RM500,000 by the end of May,” said Ghazali who is also State Communications and Special Tasks Committee chairman.
“God willing, we will achieve the target by the time we present the collection to Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman to be channelled to the Rohingya who are facing a humanitarian crisis,” Ghazali said.
He urged the public, especially private companies and corporate bodies, to donate generously towards the cause. — Bernama
