Oxford appoints Perak Sultan as patron of new South-east Asia studies centre

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — Sultan Nazrin Shah of Perak is the patron of Oxford University’s newly-established Centre for Southeast Asia Studies in its UK campus.

Oxford’s vice-chancellor Prof Louise Richardson and Social Sciences Division head Prof Sarah Whatmore welcomed the monarch to the historic Sheldonian Theatre for the launch today.

“By creating a dedicated focus for research and teaching excellence in Southeast Asia Studies, very few universities in the world can match Oxford for the range and intensity of its academic expertise.
