Johari: Negative perception on tahfiz schools must change

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 — The negative perception among a small number of the community that the tahfiz school is only a place for children who are either failing academically or having disciplinary problems needs to be changed, says Titiwangsa  member of parliament Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.

He said tahfiz schools were established to produce successful individuals who are well-versed in the Quran and Islamic studies.

“This kind of mentality needs to change if we want to maintain the quality of our religious institutions like tahfiz schools,” he said in his speech at a dialogue session with the residents of the Titiwangsa parliamentary constituency here today.
